Gil's Portfolio
The artwork shown on this page includes some of Gil's best work and some of his favorite pieces. These sculptures show how versatile Gil is as a sculptor in wood and metal. The wooden pieces are intricately hand carved and most are painted, some free standing, some hang on the wall and some move in the wind, while the metal sculptures are bold and dynamic in a variety of sizes and form. The majority of these pieces are already in the hands of collectors, but Gil will consider interesting commissions for new work, since his motto is "the sky's the limit!"
ARTICULATED PIECES
Golfer "Go For It" Carving
Bone Jour: The two people and three dogs walking down the Parisian street turn towards each other as all tails wag when the knob on the side of Gil's delightful articulated piece is turned.
Kiss me quick
What does a Scotsman wear under his kilt?
Go For It: Gil proves his technical and creative abilities are top notch with this moving golf scene where the golfer swings, misses the ball and the gopher lifts the flag and spins around.

In this interactive piece, "Kiss Me Quick," the two carved figures turn their heads and kiss just by pressing a lever on the side of the box.
This whirligig was a special order based on the request of a Scotsman who has a beautiful wife and three cute dogs -- the remarkable part of Gil's unique piece is that it actually spins in the wind! (And the age old question arrises -- what does a Scotsman wear under his kilt?)
CARVED WOOD
Wood Nymph
5' wide 2 sided carving of an antique Brewster car created for a car restoration business.
Van Gogh's Bedroom
This little lady looks just like a real person waiting for a bus....coin purse in hand, standing about 30 inches.
Gil's "Wood Nymph" is a beautiful natural carving in the round of a sweet, innocent young woman, standing almost 4' high. Sometimes Gil discovers the perfect piece of wood while walking through the woods and as in this piece, the base of the tree was perfect for a flowing dress, and he was drawn to develop the figure from its gentle curves. Gil carved and painted hundreds of signs, but his most sculptural was probably this 5' wide 2 sided carving of an antique Brewster car created for a car restoration business. In Gil's rendition of "Van Gogh's Bedroom," the 8" figures of Vincent Van Gogh and painter buddy Paul Gaugin were carved seperately. They can store nicely in the hand made wooden box with the painterly "Starry Night" scene that the bedroom rests upon. Gil has created other box scenes featuring golfing themes, city-scapes and fables. This little lady looks just like a real person waiting for a bus....coin purse in hand, standing about 30 inches.

Sometimes Gil likes to create really big pieces, as with the series of unique totem poles shown here. Gil carved his interpretation of Alice in Wonderland, Snow White with the Seven Dwarfs and the Wizard of Oz. Totem poles range in size from 7' to 12' and can go higher if you have the room! Gil's unique carving, "Fab Four," featuring the Beatles at their best is another in his series of fabulous totem poles. As with the others, the piece is carved and painted in the round from one piece of wood. Gil's Bluegrass Bear Band, which he calls, "The Bearly Scene," is comprised of 4 individually carved in-the-round bears each playing his own musical instrument, each approximately 24" high and big enough around to hug!
