| Tammra
and Gil Russell have been creating and selling their artwork through
Candle
in the Wind Studios for nearly two decades. Their artwork has reached a
world-wide audience and includes woodcarvings, paintings, folk art and
sculpture. With
a new workshop established and inspiring landscapes surrounding their
northeast Tennessee studios, the Russells are ready to make fabulous
pieces in 2008!
The Russells do not make two carvings exactly alike, but will consider interesting commissions for brand new ideas or pieces similar to those shown here. The artwork shown here includes favorite and best works by Gil and Tammra Russell. Most of the work has already been sold, but shows a good sampling of what the artists can do and have done. |

The
"Streets of New
York" piece is a complicated scene combined with moving parts and
interactive
play. Gil built an elaborate box almost 3' wide to showcase the figures
-- an elegant man and woman and their little dog out on the town. The
box
also serves to house the mechanical parts that make the piece move when
the viewer turns the crank on the side. These awesome works of art are
delightful and rare -- it takes a lot of imagination, skill and time to

Tammra paints dog portraits and carves little dogs, but is most proud of this "Dog Walker" scene that spins and seems to tie up the dog walker as such a collection of dogs on leashes would do! |
